The Club Business Meeting unanimously voted to donate £1000 to Mary's Meals. This charity was set up by a young schoolgirl from Argyll, and provides a square meal for young children mainly in Malawi and Uganda. The catch is that they have to go to school for the day to qualify for the free meal, and therefore they receive an education that otherwise may have been denied to them. It has resulted in a large increase in the numbers attending school. At the time of our donation the UK Government were matching donations to this scheme, so effectively Mary's Meals receive £2000. See here for more info.
