A Waste of Time and Money was the unusual title of a fascinating and some times concerning talk, given by Rotarian Bob Abernethy's son Duncan, about the state of the waste and recycling business in the country.

Duncan is the Business Development Director of Fichtner Consulting Engineers; one of the UK's leading engineering consultancy companies in the waste and renewable energy sector.

A chemical engineer who graduated from the University of Edinburgh, Duncan has more than 20 years' experience in the development and construction of waste management facilities across the UK.

He gave us his thoughts on the evolution of waste management in the UK, and highlighted some of the failings and successes of the industry.
